NBA power rankings: Injuries shake up league, winless Miami Heat plummet
The 2026-27 NBA regular season is merely one week, old but injuries have already made a massive impact in both the short- and long-term. The NBA season is one week into its young season, with no teams yet having played five games. However, injuries to key players such as Timberwolves, Thunder, and Magic forward Paolo Banchero have already impacted the league. The Miami Heat, who acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo in the summer, have yet to win a game and are ranked 24th in the overall rebounder ranking. Meanwhile, the Pelicans lead the NBA in points in the paint per game (60.7), and are tied for 28th in catch and shoot points per game. Meanwhile in the NBA, Phoenix ranks last in the defensive rating, allowing 124.5 points per 100 possessions. The Milwaukee Bucks have shown promising early returns from their new-look roster, with Yaxel Lendeborg leading all rookies in points and rebounds (9.3). The Charlotte Hornets rank dead last in rebounding metrics. The Atlanta Hawks are currently leading the NBA with 298 points per games.
