Miami thinks it’s too good for the ACC. That’s a dangerous delusion
Miami's president is campaigning for a spot in a new conference, even as the Hurricanes reap rewards of ACC. University of Miami's president, Joe Echevarria, has expressed interest in leaving the ACC for the Big Ten or SEC. These conferences generate more media rights revenue, exposure, and a superior conference brand. However, joining the Big 10 or SEC comes with a warning that it might be bad for your heart and brutal for your record. Ask Oklahoma about leveling up after winning the Big 12 six years in a row from 2015-20, they have yet to achieve any conference titles or playoff bids. Arkansas has been receiving SEC checks since leaving the Southwest Conference more than 30 years ago, while Nebraska had no conference titles, playoff bids, or conference titles.
