ACC Up and Down: Wake or SMU? Who has the best shot to earn a matchup with Miami in Charlotte? - Cville Right Now
Miami's Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney are on fire, while the hot seat claimed Dave Doeren's job at North Carolina State. The ACC is down to two contenders for No. 2: Wake Forest and SMU, who are set to meet on Nov. 14 in Dallas. The game is a major check in the “pro” column for SMU as the Mustangs (6-1, 4-1 ACC), who are 11-0 in ACC games at home. However, Wake Forest has a tougher remaining schedule, including a non-conference trip to No. 5 Notre Dame and a game against Virginia Tech the week before, giving SMU an extra day of rest and preparation for the showdown with No. 14 Wake Forest (6/1,4-1). Meanwhile, Stanford's coach, Davita Pritchard, has improved his team since being picked to finish last in the 17-team ACC in the league's preseason poll. Meanwhile, Miami's Malachi Toney and Darian Mensah continue to perform well each week, leading the ACC with 2,151 passing yards, 22 touchdown passes and an 81.4% completion rate. Dave Doeren’s Wolfpack is turning out to be a middling team, turning out a mattering team.
