Miami thinks it’s too good for the ACC. That’s a dangerous delusion
Miami's president is campaigning for a spot in a new conference, even as the Hurricanes reap rewards of ACC. University of Miami's president, Joe Echevarria, has expressed interest in leaving the ACC for the Big Ten or SEC. These conferences generate more media rights revenue, exposure, and a superior conference brand. However, joining the Big League or SEC could be problematic for university records. The ACC allows its playoff teams to keep the full revenue payout they earn. EcheVarria also mentioned the possibility of becoming independent. While there are some success stories, there is also a risk of losing games due to a change in conference identity. The potential for a breakaway from the ACC suggests a private league to form the Equity College Football Super League.
