Uthmeier, a GOP ‘bulldog,’ faces Rodriguez in AG race focused on Hope Florida
James Uthmeier’s many headline-grabbing actions have made this year’s election for Florida attorney general a high-profile one. James Uthmeier, Florida's attorney general, is up against former state senator Jose Javier Rodriguez in a controversial election focused on the Hope Florida scandal. The scandal, which Uthme discusses but avoids talking about, has become a key issue in Rodriguez's campaign against him. Democrats argue that Utheme has used the position of attorney general to promote his far-right ideas and has been dangerous and unfit for the position. The Republican Party of Florida has defended Uthmiser, calling him a "bulldog" who fights for what is right even when it's not easy. Rodriguez argues that the diversion of Medicaid settlement money through the HopeFlorida Foundation to GOP political committees controlled by Uthmite is wrong.
