The Department of Homeland Security raided two of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ homes amid ongoing lawsuits and a human trafficking investigation.

An associate of Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested Monday, the same day two of the Bad Boy Records founder’s homes were raided by Homeland Security Investigations agents.

Former Syracuse University basketball player Brendan Paul was arrested by Miami-Dade Police Department officers at Miami-Opa Locka Airport on felony charges of possession of suspected cocaine and alleged possession of marijuana candy, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by USA TODAY. The arrest was made as a result of a joint effort with Miami-Dade, the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection, according to the affidavit.

“The accused had the contraband inside his personal duffel bags which he claimed to have before he was searched,” the affidavit said. After an investigation, the police found that the substances were cocaine and food products.

He was released on $2,500 bond Tuesday and has a hearing scheduled for April 24. No attorney information available for Paul.

Paul has been referred to as Combs “the mule” in Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr.’s civil suit against Bad Boy founder and Cuba Gooding Jr. for sexual assault and harassment. In an amended lawsuit filed in New York federal district court by Jones on Monday, he calls Paul Combs a “mule,” writing that he allegedly “procured, transported and distributed ecstasy, cocaine, GHB, ketamine, marijuana, mushrooms and tuci by packing these substances in their carry-on bags and going through TSA.” USA TODAY has reached out to Combs’ representatives for comment on Paul’s arrest and charges. Jones worked with Combs on his latest record, “The Love Album: Off the Grid.” According to Jones, he and Combs worked together between September 2022 and November 2023, a partnership that resulted in nine songs on “The Love Album,” for which Jones is credited as a producer. Diddy denied Jones’ allegations against him. In the lawsuit, Jones claims that Combs “demanded” that he and Paul “carry (Combs’) firearm with them when they go out.” According to Jones, defendant Christina Horram had Paul, Moy Bawn and Frankie Santella perform a range of responsibilities ranging from drug trafficking to providing sex workers for Combs. Paul was among one of Combs’ employees who would “negotiate the fees sex workers receive and ensure the workers are paid,” according to court documents. According to Jones, City Girls rapper Yung Miami, along with two other women, wellness coach Jade Raimi and the rapper’s ex-girlfriend Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his partner Daphne Joy, were among the women “who were paid a monthly fee to work as Mr. Combs’ sex workers.” Combs and Yung Miami were first linked in 2021. They later confirmed they were dating on a June 2022 episode of the Caresha Please podcast. The couple has been tight-lipped about their relationship status, but in an April 2023 profile with The Cut, the “Act Up” rapper said she’s single. USA TODAY reached out to representatives for Yung Miami, Ramey and Daphne Joy. Jones’ case has implicated other celebrities, including Yung Miami, whose unnamed cousin was accused of sexual assault after she allegedly “barged into the bathroom and groped” Jones during a Thanksgiving 2022 gathering. Jones also alleged that producer Stevie J helped recruit sex workers for Combs and they participated in sex parties called “freak-offs” (a term Combs allegedly used to refer to sex workers) according to the lawsuit. Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles, Miami were raided by Homeland Security Investigations Jones’ amended suit follows the reported break-in at two of Combs’ homes. The homes were reportedly searched by HSI on Monday as part of a federal investigation. Federal agents raided Combs’ Los Angeles home on Monday, according to Rolling Stone and local Los Angeles news station Fox 11, amid lawsuits filed against him by accusers who say the rapper and music mogul raped them or sexually assaulted. Agents also searched Combs’ Miami residence on Monday, Rolling Stone and The Associated Press reported. A day after Combs’ homes were raided, attorney Aaron Dyer insisted the rapper’s innocence and criticized the federal invasion for its “grossly excessive use of military force.” Dyer added that Combs was not detained by authorities, nor were any of the rapper’s family members arrested during the raid. “This unprecedented ambush — combined with an advanced, coordinated media presence — results in a premature and hasty conviction of Mr. Combs and amounts to nothing more than a witch hunt based on baseless allegations made in civil cases,” Dyer said in a statement to the U.S. TODAY on Tuesday.
