Florida wineries can sell larger bottles of wine under new law
The wine industry brings more than $15 billion a year to Florida’s economy. A new law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis allows wineries to sell up to 15-liter bottles of wine, allowing them to sell larger bottles. The wine industry, which contributes more than $15 billion a year to Florida's economy, is expected to grow due to this change. The larger bottles can already be bought online and shipped to Florida, and will be available in stores starting July 1. Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards CEO, Christian Slupe, anticipates that consumers may want these large bottles for special occasions.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - Larger bottles of wine could be coming to a store near you. With a new law Governor Ron DeSantis signed on Thursday, they’ll be able to sell up to 15-liter bottles of wine.
“We want our consumers to be happy. And if that means they want to buy and sell a big ole bottle of wine like this, then by golly, they’re going to be able to do that in the State of Florida,” Gov. DeSantis said.
The wine industry brings more than $15 billion a year to Florida’s economy. Only California produces more wine. With Florida being able to sell larger bottles of wine, the industry is expected to grow.
“We have this prop bottle here that sits in our wine shop and ask multiple times a day ‘Can I buy this? Can I buy this?’” Christian Slupe, Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards CEO, said.
Slupe knows connoisseurs won’t buy the large bottles all the time, but people may want them for special occasions.
“To be able to offer something that consumers can come and get for a large format and use at weddings,” Slupe said.
The larger bottles can already be bought online and shipped to Florida. People will be able to buy them in stores starting July 1.
