Apple farmer in Miami County, Indiana, Jason McClure, has run for political office after the Miami County Plan Commission voted to approve a data center ordinance and lift a temporary moratorium on projects. McClure filed as an independent to challenge two-term Republican County Commissioner Fred Musselman, who voted to pass the ordinance. In rural Jasper County, commissioners approved a development agreement with Amazon to build a $7 billion, 304-acre data center campus near Wheatfield. However, some county commissioners are banking on voters who are more open to data center developments.
